Step into the world of "A Salon, Anno 1800," the latest CD release from Da Vinci Classics, where the enchanting flute of Mariya Miliutsina dances with the soulful strums of Koki Fujimoto's guitar. This album isn't just a collection of notes and rhythms; it's a doorway to the past, a glimpse into the refined musical salons of the nineteenth century.
Imagine a time where music was the heartbeat of a salon, where notes floated through the air like whispered conversations. This is the world Mariya and Koki recreate with their flute and guitar. Their instruments, though different in voice, speak the same language of emotion and beauty. They are like two old friends, each with their own stories, coming together to share tales of yesteryears.
The pieces chosen for this album are like jewels from a forgotten treasure chest. There's the elegance of Francesco Molino, who brought the charm of Ivrea, Italy, to the grand salons of Paris. Then, drift through the melodies of Mauro Giuliani and Fernando Sor, guitarists whose names echo through time. Their compositions, a famous Serenade and soul-stirring Seguidillas transcriptions, still resonate with listeners today.
And let's not forget the delightful Arias transcribed by Anton Foreit, inspired by Adolphe Adam's comic opera. These pieces are a testament to the bond between the flute and the art of singing - a melody that could make the heart sing and the soul dance.
But what makes "A Salon, Anno 1800" truly special is its authenticity. Mariya and Koki breathe life into these compositions with original period instruments, making every note, every chord, an echo from the past. It's not just music; it's a living history, a tribute to the masters of yore.
So, we invite you to lose yourself in "A Salon, Anno 1800." Let the music transport you to a world of elegance and grace, where every note tells a story, and every melody is a memory. This album is more than just a listening experience; it's a journey through time, a celebration of the timeless bond between music and the human spirit.
Available now for those who wish to wander through the corridors of history and experience the soulful duet of flute and guitar, as if sitting in a nineteenth-century salon, surrounded by the whispers of the past.

The galant style is starting to be considered as one of the most influential musical movements cultivated in Europe between 1720 and 1780. The repertoire collected in this recording by La Réjouissance, composed in Hamburg, London or Milan, confirms not only the international scale of this movement, but also the richness of its production, yet to be explored. In this context, the trio sonata established itself as the perfect form for theaspirations of composers and performers. Established in the 17th century, this baroqueconstruction would also exercise its sovereignty in the chamber music of the gallant, reconverted into an eighteenth-century form that was both ingenious and technicallyaccessible; its conversational, sociable and light-hearted character was equally satisfying to professional and amateur musicians alike. Works by universally known musicians, such as G. Ph. Telemann, C. Ph. Emanuel and his brother J. Chr. Bach, as well as by C. Fr. Abel, are juxtaposed here to pieces by lesser known musicians such as Fortunato Chelleri and Pierre Prowo, , here offered in world premiere, which will doubtlessly constitute a dramatic enrichment in the repertoire of the style galante.
